Meeting again
It was strange to see Sally Windsor that day, stepping in from the bright outside onto the Sunday afternoon pub carpet, looking thinner than the last time I’d seen her but taller somehow. And it was strange to see her, because I’d loved her for so long and for so many years, and now she had a different face and a different smell too I noticed as I leaned in to kiss her cheek.
